Marvel and DC have "stolen" characters from each other quite a bit over the years.

Supergirl first started going by the name Linda Lee Danvers in the mid-60s. Carol Danvers (with no powers) first appeared in 1968. Supergirl had her own title from 1972 to 1974. Carol Danvers got powers and first appeared as Ms. Marvel in 1977.

Also worth noting is that in 1972, DC Comics acquired the rights to Captain Marvel (Shazam) and the entire Marvel Family ... including Mary Marvel ... who appeared in the pages of Shazam! as late as 1978.

I'm guessing that MARVEL Comics felt they needed to respond to this in some way. So they spun a character off of their own "Captain Marvel" (the Kree), made her a blonde like Supergirl, and called it a day.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1886451927397796046.post-25991209786252407672008-10-07T22:33:00.000-06:002008-10-07T22:33:00.000-06:00Lesser known! Spider-Woman found Danvers, got Professor X to restore her memories, and eventually, she got new cosmic-level powers as a result of experimentation by The Brood. For a while she was known as Binary, then as Warbird, then worked her way back around to Ms. Marvel again, with powers that aren't cosmic-level any more, but are close to what she started with.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1886451927397796046.post-74564401038190642492008-10-07T08:47:00.000-06:002008-10-07T08:47:00.000-06:00Isnt she the gal that Rogue drain to the death?
