Rebirth Superman

DC Comics has just undergone a "Rebirth" and a welcome return of many classic aspects of the DC Universe. For Superman, gone is the New 52 armored look with complicated lines and high collar, and a new, modern costume, which still has classic tones to it.

DC's Rebirth looks pretty promising so far, I'm excited to see where it goes! You guys agree?

Doomsday!

It's been a long time coming for this guy, but here he is. I had been reading comics as a kid for a while, but The Death of Superman (where Doomsday first showed up) probably marked the time when I really started *collecting* comics. I remember the black poly-bagged Superman #75, the frenzy to pick up the issues, and the news reports on tv and everything. They were interesting times to be a comic fan indeed...

Also today, check out this cool fan work! First is this great rendition of "Badaboum" the former Québec Nordiques NHL hockey mascot by Alexandre! And hey, maybe "Badaboum" will return to the city some day soon!

BvS Wonder Woman

Well, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will be upon us soon, and I'm hoping for great things, including a great new cinematic version of Wonder Woman. I'm also amazed by how far along they are with production and filming for the Wonder Woman movie. At the least, WB is moving ahead with real confidence in their DC Movie Universe!

DC Comics currently has a "DC You" initiative going on, with new status-quos for most of the characters, including Superman - Following the revelation of Superman's true identity, the reduced-powered Supes hits the road on a motorbike in a jeans-and-tee-shirt look and cape-wrapped knuckles. I'm actually pretty cool with his look - but only for a while...

Batman V Superman

Well, I'm currently working on a couple of characters for the blog, but it makes more sense to post both of these particular characters together for one great post - so hopefully that will be coming very soon. In the meantime, please enjoy these updated, more accurate versions of Ben Affleck's Batman and Henry Cavill's Superman.

I've previously done a version of Affleck's Batman, and here's the Henry Cavill version of Supes to go with him. Still a long wait until this movie comes around, but I have a feeling we'll at least see a teaser/trailer fairly soon...

Well that first (very cool!) photo of Affleck's Batman costume has been out for a little while now, and even though it doesn't give us a good look at the whole suit (I had to guess on some details, and color), I took the encouragement from some SP readers and figured what the heck - here's a first crack at the new BvS Batman. No reason I can't revise/revisit this later on of course :)

I'm adding a couple more things to this post, a Doctor Who compilation image from a SP friend named Ben, who plans to get it signed by Matt Smith at an upcoming convention! Click image to enlarge.
