Grimace

Grimace

I wanted to get a Grimace out there to go with the Ronald McDonald I just did. I've learned more about Grimace in the last few days than I ever expected to, I'll say that. Do you know anything interesting about the big purple guy?

You've always got a friend wearing big red shoes...

 Ronald McDonald

In many ways, Ronald's is a face I've grown up with. I saw him every Saturday morning, he was on my Happy Meal box, I would eat his head from a McDonaldLand cookie package, and he's on those plastic bibs that teenagers still like to goof around with.

Yeah, I get mixed feelings about the whole thing. I know he's a mascot for a huge fast food corporation, but he's also a permanent part of my childhood. What can you say?

You'd have to think; If McDonald's had first opened today, there probably never be a Ronald McDonald, what with the 'socially-conscious', do-gooder, "Oh, think of the CHILDREN!" generation we live in.

A 'Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart' Whosday

'Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart

Today it's a classic Doctor Who character, Brigadier Sir Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart - also known as simply "The Brigadier". The actor who portrayed him, Nicholas Courtney passed away this last February. Thank you for being the Doctor's trustiest companion, Mr. Courtney.

On a different note, I wanted to quickly share with you another creative expression of Who-love; Larissa emailed me to share something... unique. She actually draws Doctor Who characters on bananas. Yes, bananas. Check 'em all out here!

Take A Walk On The Darkseid

Darkseid

One of the coolest baddies in the DC universe is Darkseid, a frequent thorn in Superman's side. In fact, he's making appearances on Smallville now.

I always thought he looked cool, though as a kid I was pretty creeped out by the glowing eyes on the Super Powers Darkseid action figure.

It's a Whosday! The Silurians!

Silurian Trooper, Alaya, Restac

These are some of the Silurians from Series 5 of Doctor Who, and are some of the coolest looking monsters they've made for the show if I do say so.
