"Saved by kitty litter"

Batman Returns Batman, Catwoman, Penguin

Batman Returns is a strange animal.

I think a lot of people were surprised by the tone of the movie after having seen the first Batman in 89. It seemed to have even more of that now trademark Burton influence to it.

Anyway I'm not sure how I feel about it. I thought the way they did Penguin character was an interesting concept, but came off as far too crass. Catwoman was downright nuts, but in a likable way. Bruce Wayne had an odd quirkiness that let Keaton's personality shine through in a way it never could in the first film.

The whole movie is rather fantastical and has a tone not typical of a superhero film, that's for sure.

My favorite line in the movie is from Bruce Wayne - "You know what, I mistook me for somebody else."

"I want you to tell all your friends about me..."

1989 Movie Batman, Joker
Man, was this really 20 years ago?!

As a kid, when the Keaton Batman movie came out, it was amazing to me. The costume, the Joker, the Batmobile, I had never seen anything like it. I was a huge fan, and the movie really solidified my bat-fandom. I loved going to the mall and seeing all the exotic new merchandise sitting on the shelves.

I haven't seen anything like the amazing hype around that movie - that is until I went to the opening of The Dark Knight this past summer. The Batman shirts were out in full force once again!

With the appearance of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, some would say that the older Keaton movies don't stand up so well, but this movie represents a fun time in my life and still holds a special place for me.

By YOUR powers combined...

Captain Planet

Remember this guy?! I'm actually surprised they haven't yet brought this show back in some incarnation, what with all the global warming hoopla these days.

Even as a young person though, I realized Captain Planet was rather indoctrinal and contrived :)

But hey, how can you not love the green mullet and icy blue skin of the Captain? I wonder who it was that bestowed the rank of "captain" upon our friend here, anyway?

Huzzah! More Arrested Development

Ann Veal, Oscar Bluth, Prison Oscar Bluth, Annyong, Steve Holt

After I did the cast of AD, I felt I had to go ahead and do these characters as well. I mean, what would AD be without these beloved catchphrases -

"Her?"

"I'm Oscar! Dot Com!"

"Annyong."

"Steve Holt!"

Huzzah! It's Arrested Development

Michael, George Michael, Maeby, George Sr., Buster, Lucille, Tobias, Lindsay, Franklin, and GOB

Well I was finally able to finish the whole Arrested Development gang, one of the funnest group of Punx I've done yet. And I write this among rumblings that the movie based on the beloved show may at last be close to reality. And that would NOT be a huge mistake.

Anyway, enjoy!

P.S. You can click on GOB to embiggen him.

Rickrolled!

Rick Astley
Unless you've been living under a rock, you've stumbled upon the "Rickrolled" phenomenon. I did earlier this year, and I thought it was hilarilous! Not to mention the surprise of this deep robust voice coming out of this skinny redhead guy.

Anyway, I'm glad to hear Rick has been such a good sport about it all. Today's entry is dedicated to anyone who has ever been Rickrolled.

Does anybody else think that strobing light effect on the brick wall looks like a couple guys waving around flashlights?

Springfield Punx Jumble Wallpaper

Some of you have requested the background image as a wallpaper, and here you have it. It features many of the Punx that have appeared on the blog.

Click on the image, and at that page look for the "Download" tab up top. It's a large image so that you can resize it to whatever you need.

You can set the fullscreen image (centered) as your desktop and let it bleed out past the edges of your screen, I think that looks pretty snazzy.
later!
