The Doctor (Matt Smith)
Over the last few months, I've had a tremendous time enjoying Doctor Who Series 5. I have to confess, I only have a fuzzy memory of the classic Who from the public TV broadcasts we had, and I've only seen a handful of the Eccleston/Tennant episodes.
A friend got me onto this series with Matt Smith, and right from that fabulous series opener I've been hooked. I love Matt Smith in the Eleventh Doctor role as well, he's eccentric and brilliant, but also playful and childlike. I'd be really pleased to see the Eleventh Doctor stick around for a while if possible. At the same time, I've enjoyed it so much that I'd like to look into the previous incarnations some more I think.
Stand-out episodes for me from this series are the already-mentioned series opener, the Vincent Van Gogh episode (which I found poignant and sort of beautiful) and the just finished Pandorica/Big Bang finale episodes.
Well, all this week we'll concentrate on series 5, so see ya tomorrow!
"What are you wearing?"
ReplyDelete"I wear Fezes now. Fezes are cool."
NICE job, man. I never would have thought of this (and if I had, i would always wonder how you would do that prominent jaw). You did brilliant.
Wonderful! Can't wait to see what else you'll draw from the series!
ReplyDeleteHell yes!
ReplyDeleteAs an avid Doctor Who fan I appreciate any recognition of the show's (and the actors playing the Doctor) brilliancy. And as an American fan, I appreciate anyone even mentioning Doctor Who. 'Tis quite sad how ignorant this country is of such a hilarious, long-running show.
This is brilliant! I'd love to see you draw some of the Who universe baddies. Exterminate!
ReplyDeletegood job!
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome!! Love the Fez and mop shot. Ooh can't wait tio see what comes later in the week.
ReplyDeleteJust remember in your drawings of the Doctor's universe and it's occupants:
ReplyDelete"Any image of an Angel becomes an Angel itself."
P.S. Don't Blink
He is funny looking, isn't he?
ReplyDeleteI've never watched the show but I want to start the Tennant episodes, so really I should start with the Eccleston episodes, so really I should...
Thank you! That's brilliant and fantastic!
ReplyDeleteEffin' AWESOME!!! I've been waiting for some Doctor Who. Great job!
ReplyDeleteLoving your work. You really capture the essence of the Simpsons AND the characters you Simpson-ize - fantastic!!!
ReplyDeleteVery nice, great job on the doctor. I know Doctor Who week is over, but is there any chance for the classic Doctors or at least the 4th doctor?
ReplyDeleteAaron, I suspect this will not be the only Doctor Who week I do, so that is possible.
ReplyDeleteThese are quite, quite brilliant. Quite how you've managed to capture the actors' faces is beyond me - even the proper Simpsons artist doesn't seem to get such good likenesses! Bloody marvellous.
ReplyDeleteI hope you do some of the old doctors and companions.
ReplyDeleteTHE EYYYYES... Sorry, just the eyes part that makes me wanna believe it's Simpsons but just misses the mark
ReplyDeleteI think I know where you are coming from Anon, but keep in mind that when 'real life' people appear on the Simpsons, the trademark "Simpsons features" usually aren't so pronounced. This is usually for the sake of likeness. But hey, you can have your opinion.
ReplyDeleteOMG!! I am a huge Doctor Who fan. And now I am a huge Springfield Punx fan!! That was hilarious :-) Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteThanks kimsta!
ReplyDeleteAmazing work! One thing, though - when the Doctor wears a blue bowtie and braces, he changes his shirt to a blue/grey coloured one to match. If we're being technical, lol. But it'd complete the look of the blue outfit if it had the blue shirt. Excellent work either way.
ReplyDeleteYes, right you are Anon. I've made the change, thank you.
ReplyDeleteYou are unbelievably awesome! What talent!!!!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely FANTASTIC !! ALL drawings. B)
ReplyDeleteFor those asking for the 4th Doctor, he's already appeared in The Simpsons.
ReplyDelete10th Doctor and friends.....Please@
ReplyDeleteI. Love. You.
ReplyDeleteFound your blog via ROFLRazzi - now added to my Blogger feed, love it! Great work on the Who characters. Would especially love to see your take on 10!
ReplyDeleteAmazing work! I'd love to see your take on all of the incarnations of the Doctor. You're brilliant.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like the Doctor Who Series. You really should make a point of watching all of the Ecclestone/Tennant series. They are awesome I've seen them all at least 4 times. :)Great drawings
ReplyDeleteLove them maybe we could see the 10th doctor and his companions
ReplyDeleteso brilliant and awsome
ReplyDeletewould you consider doing any of the ninth or the tenth doctor, would love to see a tennant one in the suit and long coat
You have most definitely got to get onto watching all of the Tennant episodes. He was one of the most brilliant Doctors EVER. Seriously. Go and do it now :D
ReplyDeletex
I have been in love with Doctor Who from the first time i saw it!! Me and my little sister love, love, LOVE David Tennant and Matt Smith!! The cartoons are...so...so...Geronimo!!
ReplyDeleteThough I have stopped watching the simpsons years ago (Due to really awful scripts from the lack of effort from the writers) I would LOVE to see Matt Smith make an appearence.
ReplyDeleteAh it was your 11th Doctor Wallpaper that lead me to your door. The Fezzed Doctor is a fave!
ReplyDeleteof course the doctor has featured in the Simpsons, more than once actually, but Matt Groening must have been a classic doctor fan as it was the 4th incarnation of the doctor played by Tom Baker that they represented. Your drawing is very cool thou.
