His Name is Bane

With the news that Tom Hardy had been cast as Bane (alongside the casting of Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman) in Christopher Nolan's upcoming The Dark Knight Rises, I thought it'd be cool to pay homage to the comic version of Bane.

I'm a huge fan of the Knightfall story in the comic books back in the day. It strikes me that a lot of people who don't even know who Bane is (let's pretend the Batman & Robin thing never happened) are soon to find out about this bad boy. I can't wait.

In a similar vein, I'd like to share a bit of art by SP fan Kyle, who sent along his brilliant Simpson-centric re-creation of the "Joker bashing Robin with a crowbar" scene from A Death In The Family. Also posted below are his Springfield tributes to Michael Jackson and Prince. Good stuff, Kyle!

Going Rogue

X-Men's Rogue

I figured it was time to get Rogue out there, after all, she's a fan-favorite X-Man and a pretty powerful mutant.

And I also wanted to note that Springfield Punx has hit 1000 followers! I thank you all for visiting and being a part of Springfield Punx! There's more stuff to come that I hope you'll all like!

Greendale Human Being + Springfield Punx Round-Up

The Greendale Human Being (from NBC's Community)

If you haven't seen NBC's Community, this hilariously ambiguous thing above is the mascot for Greendale Community College - The bland result of an extreme attempt to be non-violent, animal-friendly, racially sensitive, and utterly politically correct :) Now that's satire!

In other news, we have a number of Springfield Punx inspired creations popping up lately which were so cool I had to share them! First up, Cori at Cori's Cricut used the Punx Dalek here, and with SCAL (Sure Cuts A Lot) software created this awesome birthday card for her Dad! I love the gittery gold look of the Dalek :)

A dude named Arnold also whipped up this R2D2 colored Dalek from the same image, pretty neat :)

New friend Josh created a Punx superhero movie banner that I liked...

Noel from the It's a Dawgs Life blog did a brilliant re-creation of the classic X-men cover, and did his own Dawg version of Captain America.

And lastly - EGG-STERMINATE!! Nancy came up with something unexpected but totally cool! Imagine sitting down to breakfast and you see a Dalek right on your egg! She says she used an "Egg-Bot" she got for Christmas (www.egg-bot.com), and says that "I just had to use one of your images for my eggsperiments (groan)." lol Thanks Nancy!

Phew! Well, I hope I haven't forgotten anything, thanks for hanging around, all!

UPDATE - Oh yeah, one more thing! The guys at The Omega Podcast made a new wallpaper packed with Doctor Who Punx! Thanks guys! Click image to enlarge.

That's My Kind of 'Going Green'

Green Lantern (movie version)

I figured I'd try for the hattrick and post a third movie superhero coming this year.
I've long thought that Green Lantern could make a really cool movie, and soon we're going to find out if they've succeeded. It looks pretty good to me so far (and you can only tell so much from a trailer - hello "The Phantom Menace"?) but in any case, there are a ton of people out there that don't know who "Green Lantern" is yet. This movie should make him a household name, let's just hope it's in a good way :)

Verily, the Movie Cometh!

Thor (movie version)

This Thor movie looks really interesting. It could easily turn out 'goofy', but so far it looks like they're taking it seriously. I mean, it has Anthony Hopkins after all!

The First Avenger!

Captain America (movie version)

Well it's a new year, and I thought it might be fun to look ahead to some of the movies that are coming in 2011.

It seems like they're investing a lot of energy in this Captain America; The First Avenger movie. As far as casting, I don't mind Chris Evans at all actually, I find him to be a pretty likable guy. Here's hoping that it all pays off!
