Assassin's Creed

Altair (from Assassin's Creed)

UPDATE 2 - I've added a scar version for those that asked about it...

UPDATE! I've heard you loud and clear about the finger and changed it to what I gather is the (hopefully?) correct way. It's a bit confusing to try and figure out the ramifications of a character who has their ring finger chopped off, but is drawn in the "3-fingers-and-a-thumb" Simpsons style :)

I left a version of the original in case that's anyone's preference.

I actually don't play video games much, so I probably don't do enough video game characters for this blog, but I'm finally getting to an often requested character today - Altair. Hope you like!

For some cool reader-submitted stuff today; (click images to enlarge)From Benjamin - "the first is the new version of the batman team who contains the recent suit of Nightwing, and a version of damian wayne more aged. The second is just the version of iron spidey and spidey symbiote of  Marc Webb version."

A well done Simon Baker as Patrick Jane from the Mentalist by Michael! Many more Mentalist Punx by Michael can be found here

And Cliff sends along more cool Doctor Who images - "I have had another dabble and this time done a few characters from a double episode entitled ‘Silence in the Library’ and ‘ Forest of the Dead’ featuring the 10th Doctor, River Song, Donna and the Vashta Nerada."

  1. Fantastic work as always - I really enjoy this blog, especially the Dr. Who 'punx'. Kudos to Cliff for his great stuff too - does he have a website?
Have you ever seen the British superhero show 'Misfits'? I'd love to see your take on them.

  3. Great job on Altair, but shouldn't he have a missing finger on his left hand?

    2. In the original assassins creed the assassins removed their ring finger on their blade hand to allow the blade to extend freely and as a commitment to their order. In later games this is amended by modified wrist blade technology.

    3. Love the Altaïr :) but yeah he doesn't have a ring finger on his left hand... but Simpsons characters only have three fingers anyway :p so I'm not sure how that would work!

    4. In the Assassin's Creed lore, he doesn't have his ring finger to accomodate the use of the hidden blade. I think it's okay in this case since there are only 4 fingers anyway :P

    5. yeah, the middle finger should be cut off and bandaged. That finger blocks the hole the blade comes out of.

    11. Where the hidden blade comes down, that finger should be missing from the first joint on

  4. Altair is missing his ring finger on his left hand, due to removal for the Hidden Blade (the one along his wrist) to work correctly. It was also a signification of being 'married to the Creed'. It was later a discontinued (After Altair's time) practice due to easy for their enemies to discover.

  5. Yeah, during the time period Altair lived in the Assassin's cut off their left ring finger. Part as initiation and part because the hidden blade wasn't well enough designed back then to allow for a ring finger. ;) Eventually Leonardo Da Vinci re-designs the hidden blade so that it does not require the loss of a finger to wield it. At that point the Assassin's take to branding their ring finger instead.

  6. That's great! You should do some of the characters from Game of Thrones! Hahaha that would be sweet. And yes, technically Altair is missing his ring finger on the left hand. But he's only got four fingers anyway so...

  7. By the way, Altair is missing a finger. I'm a huge fan of the AC series and know that during Altair's time the assassin's were required to chop off a finger for the hidden blade. It wasn't until Ezio met Divinci who altered the blade that the wielder did not have to sacrifice a finger, which came in Assassin's Creed 2. So the character Altair that you did was absolutely correct.

    1. actualy the blade that allowed you to keep the ring finger wasn't altered by leonardo because leonardo followed the CODEX PAGE instructions... plus if you look at ezio's fathers hand he has all his fingers ... however during Altair time period they chopped their finger off to signal their loyalty to the brotherhood but overtime they didnt bother with chopping it off
