Face Off!

Jarome Iginla

Some of you may not give a rip about hockey, but here in Canada it's a pretty big deal. When the Stanley Cup is awarded and the season ends, many of us are left wandering aimless for a few days without a game to get hyped for.

I myself never cared much for hockey until a friend invited me over to watch some Flames playoff games in 2004. The Calgary Flames eventually lost out to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the final round, but they were good times. I had so much fun that I just kinda kept watching, and haven't really stopped.

Sorry to all the other teams, but the Flames were just at the right place at the right time, and that's the bandwagon I jumped on. I'll be watching my favorite player, captain Jarome Iginla who'll lead his team again this year and we'll see how it goes.

Anyway, the NHL pre-season has just begun and people are starting to talk about hockey again. You can sense the buzz.

  1. I am really glad that you have not turned this blog into a total attention seeking mind trap. I appreciate that you like things that I do not and yet can make this totally awesome site. Thank you for being true to who you are and not compromising just to get website hits and/or ad dollars. sorry for sounding so lame it is just refreshing.

  2. Thanks so much for the kind words Lindstor! I lean to the idea that attention is best when it's earned, and that if you have good work, it will speak for itself.

Sometimes I'll do stuff for others to enjoy, but I fit this project into my extra time, so I also want to express what I like so I stay interested :)

  3. Wow, I have to say, I've been coming to your blog now for a few months, and I am very, very impressed by your work. It's one thing to take people and "Simpson"ize them; it's another to take celebrities and "Simpson"ize them. And the detail that you put into each and every one? Simply amazing!!!! I love coming back here and seeing what new creations you have made!

    Awesome job!!!

  4. Very nice. Some of us American's love our hockey.

Do you take any requests? I'd love to see Albert Pujols from the STL Cardinals. Mark McGwire and Ozzie Smith were actually on The Simpsons and I always wanted to see Pujols.

    Keep up the great work.

  6. I come here at least once a month and wow at everything and end up going through all of your archives. And then I sigh for the day that you will treat the Asterix and Tintin characters. And while you're at it, why not Archie too? Or Leonardo the inventor?

  9. This. Is. Awesome.

Also, it's my hometown team... I totally remember that year too, it was the first (and yeah, possibly only) year I ever got swept into the hockey frenzy. I was in my senior year of high school and our choral class had to write a damn "support" song for the team to the tune of one of the songs we were learning. Lame, yes. That was the night they lost to Tampa, I blame my high school music teacher.

Although they should have won. The damn puck was an inch over the line! AN INCH OVER THE LINE! And they didn't count it.

Now, I must go vent my untimely rage elsewhere =]
