Ghostbusters 2 Wallpaper
Recently a SP reader named Chris Morrell put together a great Ghostbusters wallpaper with the guys in their updated Ghostbusters II likeness that I wanted to share with you. I really like the job he did and it makes for a pretty snazzy looking desktop if I do say so :) Thanks Chris!

Don't Be Cruel
Elvis Presley
My earliest recollection of Elvis music was probably some of his cuter tunes like Teddy Bear and Love me Tender, as well as a sampling of his gospel tunes.
I came along far after the Elvis phenomenon had happened, but if there is any fair comparison to what it was like when Michael Jackson was at his peak, I think I can get somewhat of a grasp of the magnitude that this whole thing was in regards to pop culture impact.
I'm probably never going to make a pilgrimage to Graceland or skydive in a white rhinestone jumpsuit, but I do think Elvis is a figure surely worthy of being Simpsonized.
On another note, I was sent a link from Jenni of some really neat Simpsons art in the form of tattoos, one of which you would have seen in that recent 20th Anniversary TV special.

You've Bean Missed
Mr. Bean
In high school, my typing teacher did the coolest thing.
At lunch hour he would invite teachers and students to come into the library to watch his videotapes of an odd looking character called Mr. Bean. This strange character in a brown suit didn't say much, but the situations he got into and the things he did were hilarious.
Many of us students latched on immediately. Word spread around about the videos and the lunch hour audience swelled. We'd anxiously head for the library every lunch hour to poke our heads in and ask "Is there any Mr. Bean today?"
It was one of those things that really brightened the whole school day.
When I first saw Mr. Bean get a turkey stuck on his head, It was one of the most amazing things I had ever seen. I was thoroughly convinced this Rowan Atkinson guy was some kind of genius.

I'm Always On Duty!
Inspector Gadget, Penny, and Brain

Oh Gadget, you lovable klutz.
I vividly remember as a kid, singing the "do do do do do, Inspector Gadget!" along with the tv while my mom brought the warmth of my tomato soup lunch into the room. I would laugh along as Gadget naively bumbled his way hilariously through the episode as Penny and Brain faithfully braved the dangers and virtually solved the case behind his back... with just enough time for Gadget to pop up and hand over the disheartened MAD Agents to the Police Chief of course.
"Oh, Penny! What are you doing here?"
None if this is to say Gadget was useless by any means. Quite to the contrary, the exploits of the ever-optimistic Inspector were a constant distraction and frustration to Dr. Claw, with Gadget often unknowingly uncovering vital clues, as well as taking key MAD Agents out of the picture. If not for his work, I doubt many of the cases would be solved at all.
And I'd regret not thanking the late Don Adams for lending his wonderful voice and charm to the ol' Inspector, as well as providing a great deal of inspiration for the show I'm sure. :)

I don't have a history of really being the biggest video gaming guy, but whenever I've gone to Nintendo for a fun time, Link has always been there. From 8-bit on up, I have many fond memories playing or watching Zelda games with friends.
Strange as it sounds, In a way I almost feel like I've grown up along with Link, watching him transition from console to console, and all his visual styles in between. It's been cool seeing him explore fantastic worlds and overcome challenges along the way.
Which has been your favorite Zelda game through the years?

I had a request from 'Jean' for a character I hadn't thought of doing before - I thought it was a cool idea, so now here he is, Edward Scissorhands.
The movie was my first real introduction to Johnny Depp, and I have to say I find him definitely one of the most talented actors on film today.
And despite the 'look' of the movie, I don't really consider it very 'goth', but moreso a quite sympathetic teen angst/coming-of-age story. It has that interesting Tim Burton dark quirky-ness to it, and with that movie you can really tell 'this is where Tim Burton is really hitting his stride'.

Contest Frustration...
Recently I was directed to a cool new contest at http://www.thesimpsons.com/character/ where you get to come up with a new Simpsons character! Apparently the winner will have their creation appear in an upcoming episode, as well as a trip to LA to meet with a Simpsons artist and other stuff! Sounds cool, right?
I loved the idea, but wouldn't you know it - yep, looks like only U.S. Residents are eligible. D'oh! ...The plight of the Canadian I guess.
So then I figured 'heck, it might be a fun exercise, why not just do it anyway and post it on your blog?' So I went for it. ...and maybe just to throw it back at them, I gave my character an admittedly Canadian flair...
